This richly designed catalogue, Adel Abdessemed: Silent Warriors, was published on the occasion of the artist’s first solo exhibition in London at the Parasol unit foundation for contemporary art in the fall of 2010. The exhibition highlighted Abdessemed’s ongoing exploration of ideas surrounding violence, truth, and beauty. Amongst the works on view was a major new installation silent warrior, composed of numerous colorful masks made from discarded tin cans found in local markets in Fez, Morocco. Available in hardcover, the catalogue includes essays by Parasol unit director and curator Ziba Ardalan; critic, writer, and curator Gilane Tawadros; critic and curator Guy Tortosa; and a broad survey of selected works from 1996-2010.
